Fashion Show
FASHION, FIZZ & FUN KICKS OFF FUNDRAISING More than 70 guests enjoyed a great afternoon of fashion, fizz and fun in Wolverley to kick off a community fundraising project.
The catwalk show, held at Wolverley’s ageing Memorial Hall, marked the launch of fundraising to create a new purpose built community facility for villagers.
Organised by the Wolverley Memorial Project committee, the event drew support from across the village’s residential and business community.
Local ladies modelled the fashions supplied by Wolverley resident Adrienne Crawford, direct from couture fashion houses in London.
The show was expertly compered by Gil Hancox, with the opportunity to buy from the collections at hugely reduced prices. There were beauty stalls from B.Beautiful and Bijou Beauty. The models’ hair was styled by award winning stylists from Lisa Shepherd Salon in Kidderminster, and makeup was by Beverley Brazier from B.Beautiful.
Said committee member Lindsay White: “We are all local people who are passionate about this project. Our village and the surrounding area desperately needs a brilliant new facility fit for the 21st century. We’ve set a target of around £1.2 million, and hope that the bulk of this will come from the Lottery and similar grant aid bodies. However, as a community we need to show how much we want this project to become a reality; this was a great start.”
The event, which also featured champagne and homemade canapés produced by villagers, raised in excess of £700.
Events now being planned include a summer beer festival and a Wolverley’s Got Talent show next year, with a further fashion show already in the pipeline in the Spring.
